I honestly do not understand the comments from these people. They are above and beyond vituperative. That is a gorgeous, hot, beautiful picture and anybody with eyes can see that. And if it were any young male in the known universe OTHER than Sanjaya, they would be eating it up. THAT's what pisses me off about this whole thing. I just don't get it. And I don't get why people will refuse to cut Sanjaya any slack whatsoever, no matter what he does. Everything from the talk of having his own show, to now this beautiful photo which personally is the most gorgeous thing I've seen since Jim Morrison's Young Lion photos back in the day, they have to tear down and turn it into something ugly. It's like they can't be happy unless they are trashing on Sanjaya. It will be this way when his CD drops, no matter how good or even brilliant it is. Sorry, but I woke up in a pissy mood this morning. I'm very disgusted with the world right now. Is there ANYBODY out there with eyes, for crying out loud? Or ears, for that matter? Cause certainly it seems nobody is either looking OR listening, where Sanjaya is concerned. If they were, they'd see a physically gorgeous young man who is just as beautiful on the inside and who sings like an angel. Is there even one smart, intelligent blogger or journalist willing to brave the waters and give it straight, for once? Oh yeah. I forgot, a few have. And of course they got mostly trashed for their efforts. Sorry for the rant. But I LOVE that photo and thought it was a beautiful gift and it makes me mad as hell to see it being trashed on that godawful vomit page of filth. (Did I mention I was in a bad mood today?

I'm not even going to go over there and see what they have to say. I know it would ruin my morning. I guess we just have to ignore those people. I was at a birthday party on Saturday for one of my daughter's friends, and the moms that were there started talking about American Idol. So my daughter said our favorite was Sanjaya and we got to meet him last summer. So this one mom looks at me and says "Really? Do you just like his looks, or what?" And I said "No, I love his voice, and he's a very sweet person." And she said "Ok" in a very smirky, condescending sort of way and looked at the other moms and rolled her eyes. There are just a lot of snotty, snarky people out there these days, but there are some nice ones, too.

There are people out there who choose to follow the crowd because they think something/someone is cool... but what's different about us, Sanjaya's fans, is that we see something truly special in him, something genuine, that makes us love him. It's not a popularity thing with Sanjaya. He just is who he is. There's a pure essence about him. He sheds new light on the strength of the human spirit. Sanjaya's message is about being true to who you are. He's a phenomenal role model.

If anyone has/had the misfortune of reading the comments on some of his OTHER blogs, you would see that those posters NEVER have a kind word to say about ANYONE. It's usually 99% hate all the time. And the posters are just this side of being retarded.

So Sanjaya is getting the same treatment they give every other celebrity. Yeah, it sucks. But know it's not really specific to Sanjaya.

I will say that, in spite of my "pissy mood" post above (I just had to get that out cause I was about to burst a blood vessel lol! ), most of the experiences I have in regard to Sanjaya insofar as my day-to-day interactions with people have been mostly positive. It was a lot worse, of course, last year during the competition, when he was in the press all the time and things were so heated. But now, if I mention him or people find out I'm a fan, they're mostly like, "Hey, that's cool." And, of course, they are always interested to hear my backstage stories! What I have found in most recent interactions, whenever his name comes up, is that people seem to have a lot of admiration for him. "Sweet," "A good kid," "Adorable," "Strong-spirited"...these are just some of the adjectives I hear tossed around whenever his name comes up in casual conversation. Even people who bashed him around here in the day are a lot kinder now, as if in hindsight they've finally been able to appreciate what this kid was/is all about. I still don't think any of them are convinced he's a great singer or a great talent, but at least they are polite enough in my company to refrain from saying so. And I don't worry so much about that because, as they say, all will come in due time.

I was just thinking again about the whole Madonna analogy, which I've made before. Maybe not the best analogy, since she's a woman and Sanjaya a man, but I think there are some interesting parallels. NO ONE took her seriously as an artist when she first came out. Sure, everything she put out turned platinum overnight, but EVERYONE was dissing her (and I will admit I was one of them. It was the "in" thing to do-sound familiar?-and I was young and stupid). Whether it was her music, or her dancing, or her looks, or her outfits, or her acting...she couldn't seem to win. She got trashed in every music magazine and gossip page. I remember morning radio shows devoting an entire hour to dissing her. If she came out with sexy photos, all the male dj's would be making fun of her, calling her a skank and a sleazy, ugly slut, even though obviously she was, and is, a beautiful woman. But she hung in there, and persevered. She proved she had staying power. She was a smart and savvy businesswoman who made all the right moves (though some mistakes along the way, to be sure). Eventually, her music gained more respect and she gave a critically acclaimed performance in Evita. Where am I going with this? I think Sanjaya's career may well follow a very similar projectory. But he'll have to be tough-as-nails, and determined enough to hang in there despite all the detractors. Determination and driving, blind ambition...the kind that burns so hot it consumes you inside...will be the key. If Sanjaya has that, and he wants this bad enough, it will happen for him. He already has the talent, looks and charisma. It's just a matter of finding the right material...the right songs, the right video, the right movie roles...to showcase that talent and charisma. Once he does, there will be no stopping him.

Good analogy Blackrave. I remember bringing up Madonna back in the bad days on the Scaries. She got NO respect; but she sure could move units! Let's hope the same happens for Sanjaya.

Since Perez usually over a million hits on his page a DAY (that's WORLDWIDE), I'm sure this has put Sanjaya back in the public consciousness. Another double edged sword - due to the huge response, I'm sure Perez will blog on Sanjaya again in the near future.

Hey! When Sanjaya releases his first single (even better if he performs it on American Idol Extra this week), then we should send THAT to Perez. Might as well use him for GOOD.

Say what you will about Perez, he's had a MAJOR influence on the music industry. He pimps a new artist and post their music, they're sales surge. Sanjaya might consider sending Perez an "exclusive".

Even if Perez and army of retarded commenters bag on it, there are still about million other people lurking and listening and potentially being won over.

Same can be said about the picture. I'm sure hundreds of thousands that DIDN'T vote are currently drooling over Sanjaya shirtless.

I agree with Holly. Perez's readers live to be snarky, and it's more a reflection of them than any celeb being targeted. Perez put Sanjaya on the radar again, and if he does play a future single, it will be HUGE publicity for Sanj.

I'm pretty sure Sanjaya's Team wouldn't have agreed to release this picture if they weren't ok with it being distributed, discussed, dissected (for good or bad - hey, at least it gets people talking!). Free publicity is always a good thing. I agree with London - flash away, Sanj!

I was just chatting with my friend in Connecticut. She was at work and her 25 year old co-worker was like "Oh my gawd! Have you seen this picture of Sanjaya on Perez!?"

I asked her what she thought. She said "Dreamy".

I definitely agree that releasing that pic is a good publicity. Perez site is like TMZ, there is nothing good comment you can dig from there. As long as people are talking, I don’t care. Well , they always say good or bad publicity is still a publicity. The only bad on this pic is on the mind of the beholder if you know what I mean.

The picture of Sanjaya was on a New Zealand (gossip) site this morning, they didn't say anything negative about him but made a comment about his wearing the NZ underpants. They ended by mentioning Perez Hiltons poll and the results.

I went over to that cesspool bracing for some real zingers. 99% of it was just unintelligible spam, "OMG MANGINA YOURE 15 MIN ARE UP!!!78878" Meh whatever

I did shop this photo around two forums with actual people (not idiots trying to outdo each others idiocy) and the reviews were very positive.
