Believe it or not, sometimes I feel I can honestly say my infatuation with Sanjaya—or at least with what Sanjaya represents—did not begin with this past season’s American Idol. It did not begin on January 17, 2007, even though like most Americans that was my official introduction to Sanjaya, and along with it, the introduction to a season that would change my life—and that of my family—forever. We have been here enjoying the wonderful sights, and friendly people for about a week now. We have gone skydiving, and swimming with dolphins, and now we have hidden ourselves in a small town in the mountains to work on some new projects together. Sanjaya is doing well, relaxing, eating good food, and working on music. Generally preparing himself for the busy year ahead. We have taken a lot of amazing pictures, some of which he will be posting when we return in a week. I wanted to thank all of the dedicated Fanjayas for your hard work and support. Thank you for being a part of this fansite, for buying Sanjaya's EP so he would make the charts, and for being all around amazing people. We do recognize and appreciate your support. We are here because of you, and will be forever grateful for that. In the meantime, we are busy writing music and hopefully you will enjoy what we have created. Thanks again, Peace and Love, Shyamali On the night of September 9, 2007, Sanjaya Malakar, just little less than a few hours from turning 18, winding down from a grueling 59-city tour as part of the American Idol Top 10, paused in the middle of the usual crowd cheering competition that normally follows his solo number. Usually, the cheering competition is little more than an amusing diversion, a neat way to segue into Chris Sligh’s solo. Except on this night Sanjaya had a surprise in store. As the stunned hush fell, and audience anticipation rose, Sanjaya was as shocked as anyone as his sister Shyamali took the stage to lead the audience in singing “Happy Birthday.” Taking only a few seconds to regain equilibrium, he quickly made the introduction: “This is my beautiful sister Shyamali.” It was a priceless moment, as the Malakar siblings, this brother and sister that we first came to know and love so well as part of American Idol’s Season Six auditions, finally stood onstage together, locked arm in arm, at the pinnacle of everything that has gone down for the two of them this past year. AHHHH I'M SO HAPPY!!! I met SANJAYA!!!! FINALLY!!! =D I have an awesome story, pic, and videos! But it's now 1 AM so I will post the full report tomorrow!! But let me just say, I asked him to sing for me, and he started singing Baby Got Back and dancing. AHHH It was hilarious So, I left my house at 3:00 and didn't get inside the venue until after 6:00. By the time I got there I was shaking and on the verge of tears. I had driven all by myself and all of my worst fears of driving in an unfamiliar city came true. To make this easy for everyone, I'll skip over the part where I got lost for a whole hour in Baltimore, almost causing an accident trying to cross a few lanes to get to the parking garage, and getting yelled at by a really mean traffic director. But, now I was finally there, so I went directly to the customer service to pick up my pass. That had to be the easiest thing thus far. They had it waiting for me and when they handed it to me, it was the first time I think I really believed I might actually get to meet Sanjaya. I thought to myself, who am I to be so privileged. How did this happen? When I signed on as a torch reporter I could never have dreamed it. I felt like a VIP Although, I knew it wasn't a guarantee that Sanjaya would be there, somehow in my heart I knew he would. After she left the beginning of "Thriller" started and I knew what was coming.....I jumped out of my seat and Sanjaya started rising from under the stage and he did a good jump! The pelvic thrusts were HAWT! And whenhe slid to his knees to start the dancing thing I think he almost fell backward but caught himself. After the performance he did the "Who's Side Is The Loudest" game and the left side was loud, the right side was louder, but the middle(where we were) was so loud that we won! He introduced Chrs Sligh and Chris was awesome as well! I forgot the other parts so I will just talk about Sanjaya's performances. Chriljaya was out-of-this-world hilarious! Sanjaya was dancing like there was no tomorrow! He made my mom laugh! He said "WHAT?" with aloy more attitude this time! The next was "Crazy/Hey Jude"....AWESOME! Every guy did an awesome job....yes even Blake. I was completely impressed with Phil and Blake. Sanjaya is beyond impressive! Then it was "Life Is A Highway" time. No mic problems this time. He came thru loud and clear. He was so SEXY AND HAWT with that performance that I was drooling! They loved Blake a heap, too! Our boy Sanjaya got his share of ear-splitting screams too, from all around the auditorium. Not a hiss or a boo in the hall. There were many pockets of dedicated fanjayas here, there, and everywhere. You could hear them shout "Sanjaya" in unison throughout the night. The building shook with the cheers and applause of the audience for all the idols. Very upbeat, very alive!
